Pool chemicals keep your water sparkling and safe - but should you be worried about those chemicals intermingling with a well-manicured lawn? In small quantities, water with proper chemical levels shouldn't harm grass. But chemicals in higher levels, especially concentrated chlorine, can cause damage. A bigger concern, perhaps, is from the pool itself. Lawn fertilizers contain considerable amounts of nitrogen, which can combine with the free chlorine in your pool and form chloramines that reduce the chlorine's sanitizing effect.
