Where do you go when you just want to while away the time, read a book by your favorite author, enjoy a cup of tea or just relax? Traditionally, the English have retreated to the sanctuary of their gardens and summerhouses, often high-end gazebos, which can be custom built to fit your stype. In the past, some of England's most famous literary figures disappeared into their summerhouses to escape the noise and distractions of everyday life. Henry James, Sir Walter Scott and Charles Dickens used them as backdrops for pivotal scenes in their works. Today, the summer house remains a necessity for many of the English. However, its use has changed. No longer just a safe haven from life's pressures, a summer house/gazebo now serves as an office, a studio, even as an extra room.
